New Radio is an ongoing series of paintings made from and upon found paper and packaging material. The series’ title references the possibility of looking at a familiar object anew. In these works, stray phrases have been mined from their original sites of encounter and transposed to refreshed yet estranged contexts. This coexistence of familiarity and novelty characterises Mengju Lin’s engagement with text, inviting sympathetic new readings.
