This captivating documentary by Stephen Nomura Schible delves into the remarkable life and musical journey of Ryuichi Sakamoto, a true pioneer and one of the most influential artists of our era. Witness Sakamoto's evolution, from his groundbreaking techno-pop beginnings to his Academy Award-winning film scores. The film explores how his music has consistently reflected his personal experiences and social conscience, particularly his powerful voice against nuclear power following the Fukushima disaster. As Sakamoto battled cancer, his creative spirit remained undimmed, culminating in a moving and profound new masterpiece. Join us for a post-screening dialogue after the film. Details about the speakers will be announced soon.
