Assistant Manager, Programmes

1-Year Contract

SAM is committed to making contemporary art accessible and inspiring for everyone. We are currently seeking a temporary staff for Programmes for a contracted period of one year. The role will support the Education, Programmes and Access team in the delivery of immersive and inclusive experiences. The Assistant Manager, Programmes, works closely with the Education, Programmes and Access as well as the curatorial team to produce innovative and inclusive museum-based programmes and resources which address the current and future needs of the museum’s community that comprises youths, working adults, families and those who require accessibility provisions.

 

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Enthusiasm for realising SAM's mission by expanding our audience profile and creating a welcoming environment for all visitors
    • Conceptualise and/or coordinate engaging programmes that can reach a broad range of audiences, including youth, children, families, schools, seniors, community groups, and people with special needs
    • Manage budgets, and supervise interns, and/or volunteers
    • Work with external and internal stakeholders (eg. curatorial, marketing and partnerships) to develop learning opportunities and appreciation of contemporary art
    • Assist with the administration and logistics support
    • Able to work some evenings, weekends, and public holidays
    • Any ad hoc duties as assigned



    WORK EXPERIENCE AND DESIRABLE QUALITIES:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in the museum, arts and heritage sector or equivalent
    • Degree in Arts Management, Museum Studies, or a related qualification
    • Creative, motivated, dynamic, and outgoing individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • A team player who is resourceful, has initiative and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Excellent writing and presentation skills
    • A good level of computer literacy with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, digital image processing, social media channels, and other digital platforms are desirable
